Her most distinctive features include a canting keel, a divided sail plan with two equal masts allowing a crew of 25 to handle the sails manually, and a very light all-carbon structure.

Her impressive length of 44.4m (including bowsprit) and 9.5m beam is driven by a massive 1,415sqm of sail area. This gives her an astonishing 22 knots on a reach with just 15 knots of true wind. This impressive performance helped ‘Mari-Cha IV’ cover 1500 miles in three days on the record breaking transatlantic trip. On occasions,  30 knots were exceeded.

Designed purely for speed this revolutionary ketch has rivalled the larger multi-hulls in her quest to break records

The contract to build this speed-machine was won by
JMV Industries (the composite division of CMN yacht division) because they proposed the optimum method to construct such a large, stiff hull using carbon composites.
